AU0021 – Hamelin Pool Stromatolites

We took this image at the crystal clear waters of Hamelin Pool in Shark Bay, Western Australia.

The Stomatolites are extremophile bacteria that are able to live where other lifeforms cannot. In this case in the hot, salty waters of Hamelin Pool. They form these incredible rock-like structures that the fish seem to enjoy swimming between.

We were very lucky to have visited when there was no wind which allowed us to capture this image from the drone through the water and get no reflection or refractions from ripples.
